Shirley G. Mischke, age 79 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield, Nebraska.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton with the Rev. Woodrow Weidner officiating. Inurnment will be at the Crofton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Crofton.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley G. Mischke, daughter of John and Georgia (Stewart) Heick was born on August 30, 1936 at Bloomfield, NE. She graduated from Crofton High School in 1955. Shirley married Gordon D. Mischke on November 6, 1956 in Papillion, Nebraska. She attended Wayne State Teachers College and taught in rural Crofton. She joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1962, first as a clerk and was appointed Post Master in 1983. Shirley retired in 1993 after 31 years of service.
Shirley was a member of the United Church of Christ in Crofton and served as Deacon, historian, and was a Ladies Aid member. She belonged to the Crofton American Legion Auxiliary, Woman's Club, past secretary for the Crofton Chamber of Commerce, Director for the Crofton Housing Authority board, We-Fu Homemakers club member, past member of the Centennial Committee, and member of State and National Postmaster organizations.
Shirley enjoyed creating floral arrangements, writing poetry, and was an avid crossword puzzle junkie!
She is survived by three sons, Barry Mischke of Allen, NE, Randy Mischke of Sioux Falls, SD, Marty and wife Tina Mischke of Omaha, NE; one daughter Debra Mischke of Bloomfield, NE; five grandchildren - Summer King of Pierce, NE, Christina and husband Wayne Jeppesen of Lincoln, NE, Amanda Mischke of Omaha, NE, Isabel Fuentes of Omaha, and Jesse White of Madison, NE; three great grandchildren - Daianera Jeppesen, Adam King, Asher Jeppesen; one sister LaVonne Koehler of Wausa, NE.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gordon on 4/18/2015 at the age of 94 years; six siblings Vernon, Donald Lee, Wayne, Lloyd and Darrell Heick; sister Joyce Hoopes.

Very sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. A good friend throughout high school and the rest of our years...Crofton will miss her too as she was very involved with so many activities. I will miss her when I come to visit my hometown.

Sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. My husband Bob and your Dad hunted coons together in the 70's. I have kept in touch with Shirley each Christmas since we left Osmond in 1978. Thoughts are with all of you.
