Ronald Samuel Malkasian age 68 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD.

Memorial Services will be on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial of his cremated remains will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington.

Ronald Samuel Malkasian was born on August 29, 1948 in Queens, NY to Samuel and Theresa Malkasian. Ron attended Catholic Elementary school and also graduated from a Catholic High School in Queens, NY. After his parents divorced Ronald was raised by his father and his mother raised his brother Ricky. Ron worked for his father delivering Persian Rugs then worked as a Police Officer in Queens. Ron moved to Lakewood, California and began working for the Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership as a mechanic. He was previously married twice and lived in Bellflower, CA. Ron then painted houses and churches in California until his lungs and health started declining. He moved to Hartington around 2007 with the encouragement by his long-time friend Theresa Brown.

Ron was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He liked to shoot pool, go crabbing while in California, and also did some woodworking.

He is survived by his dear long-time friend, Theresa Brown of Hartington; friend Linda Ulrich of Hartington, friend Gary Dickes and many other friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ricky.

Ronnie was my cousin. I had been searching for him for several years, often searching the internet for his whereabouts. Our mothers were sisters. We were once a close family. I'm saddened over my cousin's passing. I last saw Ronnie in 1193 when Ricky had passed.
