Marie F. Liebl, age 81, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno, South Dakota.
Funeral services are 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Gunderson officiating. Visitation is from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, on Tuesday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday. Inurnment will be at the Rademacher Cemetery in Clayton, South Dakota at a later date.
Marie Florence Liebl was born April 26, 1933 to George and Emma (Dannenbring) Liebl on the family farm in Clayton, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Clayton. Marie attended rural school in Clayton until 1947 when the family moved to Yankton and then graduated from Yankton High School. Marie attended Yankton College and graduated with a business degree. After college, Marie moved out to California and found employment and then moved back to Yankton in 1960 to care for her parents. She was employed at Yankton College in the business department until the college closed in 1984. She worked as a bookkeeper for Wohlenberg and Associates for a number of years and then worked for Dennis Nelson, CPA until her retirement. Marie loved watching baseball on TV, especially her favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed bowling and photography and was famous for her homemade fudge and chocolate chip cookies. Marie was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Yankton.
Thankful for having shared her life are her brother, Derold Liebl of Omaha, NE; nephews and nieces: Francis (Karen) Liebl of Newton, IA, Greg (Marilyn) Liebl of Menno, SD, Dan Liebl of Yankton, Jeff (Jacque) Liebl of Menno, SD, Kim (Ken) Wells of Gilbert, AZ, Julie (Jim) Muhle of Omaha, NE, Pat (Bob) Wynne of Bennington, NE, DJ Liebl of Omaha, Jon (Kathy) Taylor of San Diego, CA, Marc (Liz) Taylor of San Diego, and Eric (Tracy) Taylor of San Diego; and several extended relatives.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vernon Liebl; sister, Gladys "Lee" Taylor; sister-in-law, Wilma Liebl; brother-in-law, Jack Taylor; niece, Nancy Liebl; and nephew, George Liebl.
