Kenneth Eugene Lentz, age 71 of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at his residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 21 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Rev, Jeffery Loseke officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington with military honors provided by the Hartington VFW Post 5283 and the American Legion Riders. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Pallbearers will be Leo Whitehorn, Derrick Leise, Jody Stark, Cole VonDerOhe, Kyle Lentz and Roger Brodersen.

Kenny, the eldest of 7 brothers and sisters, was born on December 29, 1942 at Yankton, SD to Irvin Ronald and Cecilia Marie (Burbach) Lentz. He grew up, lived and farmed all of his life on the East Bow family farm east of Hartington. Kenny graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1961 and then served for 2 years in the U. S. Army at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, photography, playing the piano and guitar and all the family gatherings. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a life member of the NRA.

Kenny is survived by 3 brothers and their wives, James and Glenna Lentz of Coleridge, NE; Rodney and Kathy Lentz of Hartington; Jeff and Julie Lentz of Hartington; 2 sisters and their husbands, Muriel and Warren Stark of Bloomfield, NE; Melanie and Bob VonDerOhe of Norfolk, NE; 9 nieces and nephews, 4 great nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Brownie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry who died in Vietnam.
