Franklin Wayne Lefler, age 83, of Yankton, South Dakota, died August 10, 2014 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Funeral services are 2:00 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Jon Cooke officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, on Thursday, August 14 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral.

Pallbearers are Ross Lefler, Jacob Kern, Roger Auch, Gerard Weinandt, Bud Ledom and Justin Lyon. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Schoepf, Brad Schoepf, Clifford Schoepf, John Lefler, Dale Nix and Deone Hart.

Franklin was born February 3, 1931 on the family farm near Wakonda, South Dakota to John and Bertha (Meyers) Lefler. He grew up in Wakonda where he attended country school and then graduated from Irene High School. Frank drove truck for Nash Finch for several years. On October 25, 1951, he married Dorie Cressy in Yankton. Frank then began his long career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He started out as a heavy equipment tire technician and his job took him all across the country. Frank retired as a regional manager in 1989 after 38 years of service. After retirement, Frank and Dorie moved to Yankton and Dorie passed away on March 22, 1995. Five years later, Frank married Colleen Spencer on June 5, 2000 in Yankton. Frank loved many activities including hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, bowling, dancing and riding his 4-wheeler. He also loved spending time at his cabin in the Black Hills. Frank was a true family man and will be greatly missed.

Frank is survived by his wife, Colleen Lefler of Yankton; four children: Peggy (Larry) Lyon of Emporia, KS, Susan (George) Korkames of Ottawa, KS, Mark Lefler of Yankton and Becky (Greg) Kern of Cygnet, OH; five step-children: Becky Asper of Kalispell, MT, Doug (Pam) Schoepf of Aurora, NE, Brad Schoepf of Kalispell, MT, Nikki (Dale) Nix of Brea, CA and Clifford (Gail) Schoepf of South Sioux City, NE; 23 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Jack (Delores) Lefler of Rapid City, SD; and a sister, Sylvia Spiess of California.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Dorie; son, Terry Lefler; step-son, Kenny Schoepf; and a brother, Douglas Lefler.

The family would prefer memorials to Discovery Church, PO Box 520 in Yankton.
