Daniel H. Leader, age 70 of South Yankton, Nebraska died on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in a fire at his residence.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Michael's cemetery in Hartington. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at church on Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Daniel Henry Leader was born on March 30, 1946 in Yankton, SD to Dallas Henry and Rita Ann (Lauer) Leader. Dan graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1964. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for three years prior to working at Neu Cheese in Hartington. Dan worked here for 34 years as the Plant supervisor and later worked in manufacturing sales. Dan then worked several jobs from 2001 to the present. He did receive his Bachelor's Degree in management in 1993 from Bellevue University.

Dan loved eagle watching, golfing, motorcycling, photography, boating & skiing, bowling, and snow skiing. Hershey candy bars with almonds were his favorite. He served in the National Guards and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dan is survived by five children and spouses Stephanie and Dave Maska of Parker, SD, Angela and Bill Potts of Hartington, Todd Leader of Kansas City, MO, Hope and Nathan Rose of Rapid City, SD, Jessica and Michael Quinlivan of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter; mother Rita Leader of Hartington; five siblings and spouses Joyce and Gary Heimes of Lincoln, NE, Liana and Steve Kathol of Westminister, CO, Tim and Sharon Leader of Norfolk, Bryan Leader of Norfolk, Debra and James Weise of Netherland, CO; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents and father Dallas Leader.
