Sharon K. Kosters was born on August 4, 1944, in Yankton, South Dakota to Joseph and Pearl (DeRoos) DeGroot. She grew up on the family farm in Springfield, South Dakota and attended country school near Springfield. She worked at CNR in Springfield for a few years and married Earling Kosters in 1977. They lived in Springfield for a short time and moved to Yankton, where Sharon was very dedicated to raising her three children. She was a very caring and loving mother who loved her family above all else. She would often walk her three children to school and have baked goods ready for when they came home. Due to health concerns Sharon became a resident of Avera Sr. James Care Center in Yankton in 2000.
Sharon was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton and never let her cerebral palsy get the better of her. She enjoyed spending her time gardening, watering flowers, canning, reading, making blankets for others, and loved her adult coloring books. She loved anything with cats and Elvis and collected both. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and loved seeing their many accomplishments and milestones. She was very proud of all of them. Sharon had several health issues over the years but she never complained and had a strong faith in God.
Survivors include her three children: Norene (Jason) Olson of Gayville, South Dakota and their children: Skyler and Samantha Olson; Noel Kosters of Yankton and his children: Kaylea, Nathaniel, Gavin and Gracie Kosters; and Neil Kosters and his children: KrystaBelle, Kierra and Karley Kosters; three brothers and sisters: Roger DeGroot of Springfield, Gary (Sandy) DeGroot of Springfield, and JoEllen Wormsbecker of Avon, South Dakota; many nieces and nephews; and all of her extended family members at Avera Sr. James Care Center, especially the staff in the Riverfront Neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earling; daughter, Nicole; and daughter-in-law, Angie Kosters.
