Marie M. Koch age 91 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington, NE.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10:30 am at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Coleridge with Rev. David Liewer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery in Coleridge. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters Sara Fischer, Heidi Pittman, Heather Walton, Amanda Koch and Teresa Koch. Active Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Koch, Brian Koch, Chris Goeden, Brad Goeden, Tom Goeden, Rick Goeden, Eric Schafer, Justin Kernick and Alex Walton.
Marie was born on May 29, 1923 at St. James, Nebraska to Henry and Mary (Rueter) Promes. She grew up in the St. James area and worked in California for several years. She married Robert Richard Koch on February 28, 1949 at St. James and they lived in Spencer, Nebraska for a few years until moving to a farm in the Brookey Bottom area. They moved to Coleridge in 1965 where she worked in the Coleridge Café until 1972. Marie then began working at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge retiring in 2000. She had been a resident of the Golden Living Center in Hartington since August of 2009.
Marie was a member of the St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She helped with the Girl Scouts over the years and loved to bake and play cards.
Marie is survived by 6 children and their spouses, Jerry Koch of Norfolk, NE; Rose and Rod Goeden of Hartington; Linda and Dick Schafer of Chico, CA; Sue and Russ Kernick of Norfolk; Beth Walton of Hudson, FL; Kenny and Andi Koch of Wynot; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 3 sisters-in-law, Phyllis Koch of Wynot; Mavis Koch of Wynot and Irene Peitz of Orland, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, on March 5, 1992 at the age of 67, a daughter-in-law, Denise Koch, 4 brothers, Joe, Louie, Art and Frank Promes, 4 sisters, Theresa Promes, Martha Promes, Josephine Reifenrath and Laura Koch.

She was such a special woman. I remember when Linda had slumber parties, Marie always made sure we had a good time. I also recall the great cinnamon rolls she baked. Cherish your special memories!
