Iva E. King, age 89, of Gayville, South Dakota, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton, South Dakota.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Gayville Lutheran Church in Gayville, South Dakota, with Reverend Linda Jorgensen officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery in Gregory, South Dakota. Visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 6, 2016, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday at the church.
Pallbearers are Tom Stevicks, Norman Ronfeldt, Verlyn King, Bob King, Jerry King, Roland Holub and Roy King.
Iva E. King was born September 12, 1926, near Lucas, South Dakota, to Lee and Pearl (Dappen) Stevicks. She grew up on the farm and attended country school in the Lucas area. She married Warren King on June 17, 1947, in Burke, South Dakota. They moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, for a few years and in 1957 settled in Gayville, South Dakota. She became a resident of Avera Sister James Care Center in 2009 as her health started to decline.
Iva was a member of Gayville Lutheran Church and enjoyed baking bread, canning, gardening, sewing, embroidery, and watching birds. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and took great pride in raising her family.
Survivors include her five children: Les (Gail) King of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Nadine (Don) Utigard of Sioux Falls; Patricia King of Gayville, South Dakota; Doyle King of Volin, South Dakota; and Rodney E. (Julie) King of Centerville, South Dakota; six grandchildren: Dawn Utigard, Daniel Utigard, Ross (Teresa) King, Paige (Brandon Anderegg) King, Jessica King, and Brian King; great granddaughter, Ava Vennard; sister, Eileen Ronfeldt of Lake Andes, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Mary Stevicks of Dallas, South Dakota; and brother-in-law, John Holub of Burke, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren on April 24, 2009; infant daughter, Debra; infant son, Wendall; two brothers, Melvin and Laurel Stevicks; and two sisters, Maude King and Neoma Holub.
