Daryl Jones age 89 of Wynot, Nebraska died on Tuesday, December 02, 2014 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot, Nebraska with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart cemetery in Wynot. Visitation will be on Friday at church from 4-8:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers will be Daryl's grandchildren: Jaime Jones, Kary Jones, Jeff Jones, Karmin Jones, Brett Jones, Kristin Guthmiller, Zach Jones, Jenny Jones, and Stacy Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Burcham, Francis Uhing, Jerome Promes, Lou Hans, Harley Gowrie, Butch Backman, and Dean Heimes.

Daryl was born on February 14, 1925 in Fordyce, Nebraska to Lloyd W. and Laura B. (Smith) Jones. He grew up in Wynot and attended country school at District 1 (near the Bow Valley Mill). Daryl graduated from Wynot High School in 1942. Daryl married Beverly Mae Hochstein on October 4, 1950 in Wynot, NE. He farmed his entire life and finished his employment working for Gayle Hochstein at Hartington Gravel for 16 years until he was 80. Daryl and Bev moved off the farm in 2002 and then moved into Wynot.

He was a member of Holy Family (Sacred Heart ) Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Daryl was an avid supporter of Wynot baseball and high school athletics. He enjoyed playing cards.

Daryl is survived by four children and their spouses, Vickie Jones of North Sioux City, SD, Roger and Kathy Jones of Bow Valley, Dave and Ann Jones of Norfolk, Charles Jones of Wynot; daughter-in-law Sharon Jones of Lincoln; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Heine of Hartington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bev on September 2, 2008 at the age of 80 years; one son Ron Jones; great grandson Jaxson Beins; two sisters Betty Garvin and Ardis Klanderud.
