Evangeline Jensen, age 93, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
A memorial service will be 10:30 AM on January 4, 2016, at Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton with Reverend Ralph Porter officiating. Burial will take place in the Union Cemetery in Wakonda, South Dakota, following the lunch at church.
Evangeline was born on December 20, 1921, to Casper and Olive Jensen in rural Wakonda, South Dakota. She attended Pleasant Valley rural school, graduated from Wakonda High School, and Business College in Rapid City, South Dakota. She then worked for the tax court for the United States Government in Washington, D.C. until she retired and moved back to Yankton, South Dakota.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton, Sons of Norway, Yankton Area Community Concert Association and The Center. She enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling especially to Norway and England, and watching the Minnesota Twins play ball.
Evangeline is survived by her brother, Howard (De Loris) Jensen of Viborg, South Dakota; two sisters: Maxine Cook of Lincoln, California and Alberta Pearson of Wakonda, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law: Lyle Pearson and Robert D. Cook; and niece, Dianne Lynne Jensen.
