Lloyd Herman Heese age 83 of Seward, Nebraska died on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the Ridgewood Rehab and Care Center in Seward, NE.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, August 24, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge, Nebraska with the Rev. Deb Valentine officiating. Burial will be at the Laurel Cemetery with military rites by the Laurel Veterans Post #4504 & #54. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge. Visitation will continue on Monday at church one hour prior to services.
Pallbearers will be Adam Dowling, Candace Dowling, Chris Pierson, Cynthia Pierson, Levi Heese, Layne Heese, Cary Brand, and Leigh Heese. Honorary pallbearers will be Lloyd's great grandchildren.
Lloyd Herman Heese was born on April 24, 1932 in Laurel, Nebraska to Herman and Elsie (Jurchen) Heese. He grew up in Laurel and graduated from Laurel High School in 1949. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his discharge in 1954 Lloyd came back to Nebraska and took over the operation of his father's farm because of his father's ill health prior to his death in 1955. He purchased the farm across the road from his place and continued to farm until he retired. He then worked at Waldbom's for a couple years prior to becoming the janitor at the Laurel schools. Lloyd retired from this position in May of 1999. He and Leola moved to an apartment in Lincoln, NE in 2008 and stayed there until moving into the Ridgewood Care Center in Seward in 2013. Leola died on April 6, 2014 at the age of 80 years.
Lloyd was a member of the church council and helped with planning of building the Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage. He also liked gardening and fishing.
Lloyd is survived by his son Larry and wife Tiffany Heese of Pender; daughter Lori and husband Jerry Pieper of Lincoln; six grandchildren Cynthia (Chris) Pierson, Candace (Adam) Dowling, Cary Brand, Levi Heese, Leigh Heese, and Layne Heese; six great grandchildren Riley Pierson, Kadence Pierson, Collin Pierson, Brysen Dowling, and Cooper Dowling.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Elsie Heese; wife Leola; brother Donald Heese, and sister Gladys Schlote.

Since childhood, Lloyd has been an important part of my life. His love for his family, strong faith, and love for farming were an inspiration to all of us. I am thankful we had the chance to spend a few hours with him last month. I loved your Dad!
