Bette Ann Hamilton, age 54 of Crofton, Nebraska, died on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sts. Peter & Paul) Catholic Church in Bow Valley, Nebraska with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Bow Valley. Visitation will be on Tuesday, at church, from 5-7:00 p.m. with a Vigil service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Doug Pavelka, Tony Arens, Stan Uhing, Bryan Thoene, Jonathan Heimes, and Nathan Arens.
Honorary pallbearers will be great-nieces and nephews M.J. Thoene, Jackson Arens, Owen Eckmann, Myranda Eckmann, Rydder Eckmann, Landon Clark, Wyatt Clark, Sarah Clark, and Myles Clark.
Bette was the fourth child born to Damian and Helen E. (Pavelka) Arens on April 2, 1961 and the last of the eight children to be born at home. She grew up in the Bow Valley area and graduated from Wynot High School in 1980.
Bette was married at St Peter and Paul Church in Bow Valley Ne. on June 18th 1988 to Michael Hamilton until 2014. Bette worked at MTron in Yankton, SD prior to working as a Certified Nurse's Aide and Medication Aide for several area nursing homes until her health prevented her from working. Bette found that this was her true calling as she loved working with the residents. Bette loved children and watched and played with many of the neighborhood kids wherever her home was.
Bette loved cross-stitch, word search puzzles, talking on the phone, gardening, flowers, genealogy, fish tanks with goldfish and guppies, all animals especially dogs and cats. Bette loved sewing doll clothes, especially for Barbie dolls. Bette was known to be "long winded" and would give very specific details in her stories. She loved being with her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews.
Bette is survived by her mother, Helen Arens of Hartington; three sisters and one brother, Donna and Danny Heimes of Hartington, Norma and Dan Thoene of Fordyce, Roger Arens of Hartington, and Joan Arens of Frisco, TX; brother-in-law Greg Johnson of Verdigre; sister-in-law Mary Lynn Arens of Hartington.
She was preceded in death by her father Damian Arens; sister Delores Johnson; two brothers Charles A. Arens on 2/2/16, Ronald C. Arens on 2/15/16; nephew Christopher J. Heimes; niece Heather Heimes; great niece Janet Eckmann.
