Donovan Duane Hahne, age 87 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on December 30, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa after suffering a stroke.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge with the Rev. Russ Lambert officiating. Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Coleridge with military rites by the Hartington VFW Post #5283. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 2nd, at church, from 5-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to services at church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Andy Hahne, Todd Hahne, Matt Hahne, Nate Hahne, Caleb Hahne, Mike Frerichs, Adam Hurley, and Mason Hahne.
Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters- Janet Gillespie, Patti Cook, Michelle Seagren, Leah Schaller, Jessica Peters, Christa Hurley, and Lauren Hahne.
Donovan Duane Hahne was born on January 24, 1930 in Coleridge, Nebraska to Alvin F. and Ella D. (Janssen) Hahne. He grew up in the Coleridge area and married Marilyn Jean Hefner on October 11, 1951 in Coleridge, NE. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. Donovan and Marilyn were blessed with five children. Don enjoyed his horses and attending parades with his horse & wagon. He liked tractor drives, playing cards and especially attending his children and grandchildren's activities for over 53 years. Don was a lifetime farmer and was a member of the Hartington VFW Post #5283 and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge.
Don is survived by his five children and spouses, Roger Hahne of Coleridge, Sandy & Dave Frerichs of Coleridge, Kevin & Rebecca Hahne of Norfolk, NE, Sharon & Joe Hurley of Sioux Falls, SD, Doug & Mary Hahne of Hartington, NE; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; a brother Wendell Hahne of Norfolk, NE; a sister Marva Lee Felber of Newman Grove, NE; brother-in-law Ron and wife Linda Hefner of Ft. Collins, CO; sister-in-law Carol Barber of Denver, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn on July 12, 2014 at the age of 81 years; and a sister-in-law Delores Hahne.
