Tom Grube, age 65 of Hartington, Nebraska, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial will be in the Hartington City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington is in charge of arrangements.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Broc, Bailey, Azalee Elliott, Nicolas Grube, Megan, Emma, Olivia Grube and Lennox Schumacher.
Active Pallbearers will be Lavon Knippelmeyer, Dave Dowling, Tom Lange, Chris Kathol, Colin Kathol, Chris Miller and Jim Anderson.
Tom was born on January 1, 1952 in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Leroy Edward Justus and Greta Leona (Elenga) Grube. He grew up on a farm near Johnson, Nebraska and graduated from Johnson Brock High School in 1970. He farmed with his family while working as a mail carrier for the USPS. He retired from USPS in 2001 and moved to Hartington. Tom married Deb (Kathol) Noecker on November 17, 2001 in Hartington. He worked as a realtor and appraiser for Don Miller Land Company in Hartington.
Tom was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Johnson and currently was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington. He was a member of the Nebraska Realtors Association and was a former member of the Hartington Park Board and the Hartington Senior Citizens Board. He performed in several plays with the Cedar County Theatre Group. Tom liked to golf, fish, hunt and listen to rock and roll music. He loved spending time with his family and attending his grandchildren's activities. Tom was a great cook and especially loved making breakfast.
Tom is survived by his wife, Deb Grube of Hartington, a son, Nathan and Jenny Grube of Waverly, NE; a daughter, Nikki Grube of California, MO; his mother, Leona Grube of Lincoln, NE; 8 grandchildren, Megan, Emma and Olivia Grube, Broc, Bailey, Azalee Elliott, Nicolas Grube and Lennox Schumacher, a brother, Steve and Kelli Grube of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Pam and Dale Ottemann of Johnson, NE; stepchildren, Marche Noecker of Yankton, SD; Amanda and Peter Watters of Lincoln, NE; Karissa and Dallas Schumacher of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; and Jennifer Noecker and Buck Johnson of Missoula, Montana.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Grube.
