Wallace "Wally" Fischer, age 71, of Yankton, South Dakota, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Avera Yankton Care Center.

Memorial services are 10:00 AM, on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Riverview Reformed Church in Yankton with Reverend Rodney Veldhuizen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Wallace Andrew Fischer was born March 2, 1943 in Tripp, South Dakota to Andrew and Leona (Meyer) Fischer. He graduated from Tripp High School in 1961 and then started working for a parts store in Tyndall, SD. Wally lived in Sparks, Nevada for several years and then moved to Yankton in 1969. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and then Northwestern Public Service. Wally married Karen Jones in 1975 and then in 1980, he started SoDak Printing in Yankton. He sold the business in 2012 when he retired. Wally was a member of Scramblers Motorcycle Club and Yankton Senior Center. He enjoyed watching football with his friends, but most of all, Wally loved riding motorcycles and ATVs, especially in the Black Hills.

Wally is survived by his son, Chad (Stacie) Fischer of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Addison and Molly Fischer of Jacksonville; sister, Alice Slate of Yankton; brother, William "Bill" Fischer (Pam Osthus) of Sioux Falls; brother-in-law, Hadley Gilbertson of Volin, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Wally was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol Ann Gilbertson.

So sorry to hear about Wally, I worked with him for 10 plus years as he printed the newsletter for The Center. He was proud of his family and shared pictures of his grandchildren whenever we visited. I enjoyed a cup of coffee with him often during our visits. May he rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear about Wally's passing ... I've worked with Wally for 9 years.. he was not only a customer, but a friend. He use to call me every Monday morning to recap all the big stories in the newspaper.. he loved giving me a hard time and I loved talking and laughing with him... I will miss you Wally.
