Martin William Ewing, age 68 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Rev. Owen Korte officiating. Burial will be in the St. Frances Cemetery in Randolph, Nebraska. Military Honors will be provided by the Hartington VFW Post 5283. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 6:30 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Martin was born on November 1, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska to Wayne and Dorothy Lucretia (Queeney) Ewing. He grew up in Randolph, Nebraska until 1964 when they moved to Hartington. He attended Cedar Catholic High School and then served in Vietnam in the 9th Infantry Division of the U. S. Army from May 7, 1969 to May 5, 1972. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. Marty worked in various factories in Louisiana, Iowa and Nebraska. He lived in Sheldon, Iowa prior to moving to Coleridge in 2003.
Marty was very proud that he overcame his addiction to alcohol and had been sober for over 20 years.
Marty is survived by his sister, Mary and Ken Thunker of Omaha., Nebraska 1 Nephew, 2 Nieces and 8 Great Nieces and Nephews.
Marty was preceded in death by his father, Wayne E. Ewing, his mother and step father, Paul and Dorothy Dendinger and a nephew, Paul Thunker.
