Sherry Jean Ehresmann, age 64, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

A memorial service will be 10:30 AM on Monday, January 30, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton with Reverend David Wildermuth officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Yankton.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren: Kyle Reif, Colin Reif, Curtis Bain, Miranda Bain, Michael Ellis, Victoria Ellis, and Logan Burchell.

Sherry Jean Ehresmann was born September 18, 1952, in Indiana to Carl Long and Catherine Lamar. She grew up and attended school in New London, Iowa. She married Michael Knight right out of high school and moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Sherry raised her family in the Sioux Falls area for a few years until the family moved to Texas. She married David Ehresmann in 1985 and moved back to Yankton, South Dakota in 1990.

Sherry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton and volunteered a lot of her time to the elderly. She spent many hours caring for the elderly in their homes and enjoyed visiting and assisting them. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, baking Christmas cookies, canning, taking care of her cats and dogs, drinking her Coca-Cola. She especially loved taking care of and spending time with her grandbabies.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Ehresmann of Yankton; three daughters: Amanda (Nick) Bain of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Heather (Rod) Reif of Salem, South Dakota; and Tammy (Billy) Burchell of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; one great grandson; her step-father, Eldon Powers; two brothers, Douglas (Rhonda) Powers of New London, Iowa; Daniel Long of Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Powers.

I am so sorry to here that Sherry has passed. As children we were so close, wishing we could have lived closer in our later I could shared her and her girls ,I did get to meet David the last time they were back, in Iowa.I am Eldon Powers youngest sister,better known as Lindy.
