Ida Doyle, age 91, of Yankton, South Dakota, died at her home on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
Funeral services are 3:00 PM, on Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Carl Brown, Bob Williams, Matt Merchen, Eric Doyle Jr., Jacob Doyle, and Johnathan Parker-Hall.
Ida was born December 28, 1922 at home near Freeman, South Dakota to Emmanuel and Henrietta (Stoller) Bertsch. She was baptized at Johanastahl Reformed Church in Freeman. Ida grew up in Freeman where she attended school thru the 8th grade at Delzer School No. 97. She then helped on the family farm until she was 18 years old. Ida moved to Sacramento, CA with her sisters, Irene and Tina and worked in the factories during World War II. There she met Richard Doyle and they were married on October 12, 1944 in Reno, NV. In 1950, she moved to Yankton and worked as a waitress and cook for numerous restaurants, including the Kochi Key Club and the Villager. She then became the bookkeeper for Krovoza Plumbing and Heating for 15 years until she managed the snack shop at the Human Services Center for 10 years, retiring in 1990. Ida was a member of the Yankton Moose Lodge and VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, gardening, canning, reading and dancing. She also loved doing embroidery work and word search puzzles. Above all, Ida loved her children and always made sure their needs were met.
Ida is survived by six children: Phyllis (Mark) Ruddeforth of Hernando Beach, FL, Ronald Doyle of Ashland, OR, Douglas Doyle and fiancÚ, Nena Rey of Denver, CO, Brenda (Bruce) Reisdorph of Yankton, Cynthia Harris of Yankton and Michael (Suzi) Doyle of Yankton; 25 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and one due in July; two brothers, Gideon Bertsch of Menno, SD and Ewald Bertsch of Leesburg, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Ida was preceded in death by her loving companion, Raymond Krovoza; two sons, Eric and Ricky Doyle; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jennifer Doyle; one great grandchild, Gage Lee Green Prins; 6 brothers: Rueben, Ephriam, Lawrence, Elmer, Martin and LeRoy Bertsch; and six sisters: Tillie York, Tina McKay, Irene Clark, Linda Bell, Leona Heckenlaible and Erna Schoon.
