Monica Mathilda Dendinger, age 95 of Hartington, Nebraska, died on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington with Rev. Jeffery Loseke officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Hartington. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a Vigil Service at 3:30 pm at the church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. The Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John Dendinger, Kerry Dendinger, Kurt Dendinger, Tyler Dendinger, Mark Dendinger, Ray Keiser, Judd Keiser and Andrew Dendinger.
Monica was born on October, 14, 1919 at Bow Valley, Nebraska to William and Mary (Arens) Heimes. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Hartington in 1937 and then taught at Paragon School. Monica had the honor of being named the Schuetzenfest Queen for Bow Valley. On June 24, 1941 she married Maurice Dendinger in Bow Valley. Together they farmed and lived in the Coleridge area before moving to Hartington where she has lived for the past 42 years.
Monica was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Guild, Perpetual Adoration and the Christian Mothers. She volunteered at the Holy Trinity School library for many years and completed many scrap books for Holy Trinity parish. She had a talent for decorating all occasion cakes and received an award for her 50 years of Stanley service. She worked at Tele-marketing and loved to play piano, dance and take part in the Cedar County Fair with her plants. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Monica is survived by her 5 children and their spouses, Ronald and Deena Dendinger of Springfield, MO; Gerald and Marlene Dendinger of Hartington; William and Lisa Dendinger of Hartington; Elizabeth and Steve Keiser of Fordyce; Terry and LuAnn Dendinger of Coleridge, NE; 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Maurice, who died on June 11, 2004 at the age of 85, a granddaughter, Karen (Dendinger) Fay who died on June 5, 1999, 5 brothers, Albert, Leonard, Gilbert, William and Joseph Heimes, 3 sisters, Clara Dendinger, Teresa Eickhoff and Rita Arens.
