Freda Ann Dempsay, age 96 of Coleridge, Nebraska died on Monday, March 03, 2014 at Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ in Coleridge with the Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial will be at the Coleridge City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-6:00 p.m. at the Wintz Funeral Home in Coleridge. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at church.
Freda Ann Dempsay was born on April 17, 1917 in Belden, Nebraska to Henry Louis and Dora (Bock) Stapelman. She attended country school and graduated from Belden High School in 1933. Freda married Richard E. Dempsay on February 23, 1934 in Winner, SD. She and Richard moved to Coleridge in 1951. Freda worked in the Coleridge School food program as an assistant cook for 25 years, retiring at the age of 70 years. . Freda lived at the Ridge View Manor apartments, then the Embers Assisted Living prior to entering Park View Haven on January 21, 2014.
Freda was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational U.C.C. She was active in craft work and enjoyed the senior citizen gatherings. Freda also wrote local articles for the Coleridge Blade and the Cedar County News for several years.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Rager of Montrose, CO; a son Cliff and wife Darlene Dempsay of Lancaster, CA; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; four step grandchildren.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard on August 13, 1999 at the age of 86 years; son Richard Jr.; grandson Gene Rager; ; one brother Arthur Stapelman; brother-in-law Lester Stapelman; son-in-law Darrell Rager.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine your pain. You can be sure God feels your pain. Isaiah 25:8 tells us: "He will swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces." Jesus' promise of the resurrection is comforting as well (John 5:28,29). I hope these verses bring you some comfort as you endure.
