Catherine was born on January 4th, 1918, the only daughter of John & Mary (Grovijahn) Ausdemore. She and her six brothers grew up on the family farm three miles south of Crofton. On April 18th, 1944, she married Sylvester "Sal" Bockholt of rural Fordyce at the Constance Church. They made their home on a farm south of Constance where Catherine helped with the farm work until their retirement in December, 1981, when they moved into Crofton. She became a resident of Majestic Bluffs living community in April 2011, then Avera Sister James Care Center in January 2014.
A lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, a member of the Christian Mothers Society and St. Joseph's Ladies Guild, Catherine was active in quilting, bazaars, and other church activities. Most of her life was spent caring for others; her parents, brothers, children, husband, and sometimes elderly relatives, but she always found time to have a large garden. She maintained a membership in the Crofton American Legion Auxiliary Post 128 and enjoyed lunches and other gatherings at the Crofton Senior Citizen's Center. Her favorite pastimes were fishing, playing cards, bowling and bingo. The joy of playing cards and bingo continued throughout her life.
Catherine is survived by six children, Bob (Karen) Bockholt of Paonia, CO, Jane (Gorden) Olson of Mission Hill, SD, Pat Bockholt of Omaha, NE, Arlene Gerlach of Santa Clara, CA, LeAnn (Roger) Schieffer of Crofton, and Alice Slechta of Omaha, NE. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Sal, in 2007 at the age of 89, infant son in 1951, son Dennis in 2010, daughter Michelle in 1969, grandson Brent Schieffer in 2009, and her six brothers, John, Otto, Arthur, Bernard, George, and Paul Ausdemore. She was the last member of her immediate family, and also the last of her husband's immediate family.

I bowled on the women's bowling league with Catherine in the 90's. Her and the ladies she bowled with were so much fun and such an inspiration as they were the oldest team bowling at that time. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
