Glenn Christian Beyeler, age 88 of Wynot, Nebraska, died on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 10:30 am at the Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church in Wynot with Rev. Eric Olsen officiating. Burial is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the Newcastle Cemetery in Newcastle, Nebraska with military honors provided by the Newcastle American Legion Post 62 and the Legion Riders. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm at the church and will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church. Honorary Pallbearers are all of Tok's grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and his many friends.
Tok was born on March 24, 1926 at Newcastle to Christian and Gail (Parks) Beyeler. He grew up in the Newcastle area except for 2 years his family lived in Florida when he was a teenager. Tok served from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return from the service he worked for Dixon County for 2 years and then he worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 32 years. On April 2, 1986 he married Alice (Hochstein) Promes in Omaha, Nebraska. They made their home in Wynot where Tok enjoyed turkey and mushroom hunting, playing cards and visiting with his family and friends. Tok was a member of the Newcastle American Legion Post 62 and the Hartington VFW Post 5283.
Tok is survived by his wife, Alice Beyeler of Wynot; son, Terry and Nancy Small of Salix, Iowa; 2 grandsons, 2 great grandsons, 6 step children, Deb and Jim Broeckemeier of Osmond, Nebraska; Kevin and Tammy Promes of Norfolk, Nebraska; Gene and Kathy Promes of Wynot, Nebraska; Jim and Patti Promes of Hartington, Nebraska; Tina Promes and her fiancée, Aaron Koch, of West Point, Nebraska; Pam and Jim Molacek of Norfolk, Nebraska; 13 step grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepson, Bob Promes, 2 brothers, Vet and Jack Beyeler, 4 sisters, Lena McClary, Bernice Chase, Lucille Essey and Emogene Martinsen.
