My sympathy to the family. We enjoyed being in the antique car club with Don and Jackie.

We would like to express our gratitude to you and the staff at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home. Thank you doesn't seem adequate to express how grateful our family is. Your thoughtfulness and attention to detail during our difficult time is unprecedented. We appreciate your kindness and caring from the minute Charles passed away until he was laid to rest. You and your staff made a difficult time as easy as possible and everything was well coordinated. You allowed us to say goodbye to our husband, father, and grandpa in a peaceful manner that honored the life of Charles. We felt very comforted and at home with you. Thank you for the attention to detail that made Charlie's funeral a difficult, yet proud day. Your extra work has not gone unnoticed and is greatly appreciated. Charlie would have been proud!

With much appreciation and gratitude,

The Charles Bender family

Thank you,

Marge Heckenlaible

It is hard to find the words to express how much everyone's love and prayers meant to Don and I during his sudden brief illness. Your cards, notes, phone calls, and visits gave so much joy to Don during his last days, especially your comments about how he touched your lives in a special way. His family continues to be overwhelmed by your kindness and caring.

We were blessed to have two wonderful pastors tend to us - Pastor Asher from Resurrection Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls where we were members since June 2013 and Pastor Gunderson from our beloved St. John's Lutheran in Yankton. Special thanks to Pastor Gunderson for such a personal and meaningful funeral service, to Dianne Diekmann for her beautiful music, and to the ladies for the wonderful lunch they served. We so enjoyed our 32 years with our St. John's family and I will always treasure those memories.

The staff at Wintz & Ray Funeral Home were truly amazing - Their professionalism and unique touches were very much appreciated.

We are also thankful to Don List, The Ernest-Bowyer VFW Post No. 791, and the SD Honor Guard for their service and tribute to Don.

We were so blessed to have Don be a part of our lives and we know he felt blessed to have all of you be a part of his life.

How does one begin to express heartfelt gratitude? Is it as simple as saying "Thank You"? For me I feel it should be so much more. I cannot find the words that are eloquent enough to explain, but from our first meeting I felt truly blessed to have been in the caring hands of the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home. Throughout the process, your nonimposing way of handling difficult decisions with grace and understanding gave us all great comfort and we witnessed an unwavering respect given to our father. In fact, a cherished memory was Paul standing tall and dignified at the grave site holding only a single umbrella (in unbearable conditions) after the service, as we drove away he never wavered. A truly amazing, majestic and beautiful moment, one I will never forget.

My mom's brother from South Carolina served in the Air Force for over 30 years and he was admirably impressed, as was the rest of the family during what seemed like an outpouring of accolades given for the professionalism displayed by the Wintz family throughout the entire day.

A special thank you to the Yankton Police Department, Yankton EMT's, Yankton Coroner's office and Wintz & Ray Funeral Home for your professional assistance.

Pastor Wildermuth and the ladies at Trinity Lutheran Church for your guidance, spiritual support and the wonderful service and lunch. You have assisted our loss in knowing that Dennis is once again with Tami - the love of his life.

We know this thank you is very little for what you may have done to assist in this difficult time but as Dennis' favorite singer, Elvis, would say - "Thank you, thank you, very much."
